Alight Motion vs After Motion Pro Effects - Vetri's Editing Guide

Alight Motion vs After Motion Pro Effects

Basic Editing vs Next-Level Professional Effects

I am Vetri. In this post I am sharing my experience with Alight Motion and After Motion. Both apps offer similar basic editing features but After Motion includes a much larger set of advanced and professional-style effects.

If you are already comfortable with Alight Motion and want to try advanced options for text, lyric videos, cinematic photo edits and creative backgrounds, After Motion can be another app worth exploring.

Alight Motion vs After Motion

The editing workflow in both apps feels familiar. You can work with layers, keyframes, text, images, video clips, blending and effects. However the main difference becomes clear when you look at the collection of advanced effects available in After Motion.

Alight Motion

Good for mobile editing, keyframe animation, reels, lyric videos, photo edits and creative motion graphics.

After Motion Pro

Offers a range of advanced effects that work well for professional-style text, lighting, shadows and cinematic edits.

Color & Lighting Effects

One of the points in After Motion is the Color & Lighting category. These effects can change how text, photos and video backgrounds appear.

Fast Adjustment

Useful for visual changes and improving the overall look of your work.

Gradient Shadow

Creates a smooth shadow transition. Works well with text and captions.

Three Color Grading

Helpful when you want a controlled multi-color grading effect.

Long Shadow

Adds a shadow. Makes text and objects stand out with a graphic style.

Ex Long Shadow

Great for creating extreme shadow styles in creative text designs.

Deep Shadow

Adds a shadow. Helps text or objects separate from the background.

Deep Shadow Enhance

Can make shadow-based designs look deeper and more intense.

Drop Shadow

A tool to create separation between text, objects and the background.

Drawing & Edge Effects

The Drawing & Edge category is another section for creative edits. These effects can create outlines, edge highlights and stylized details.

Edge Lines

Highlights. Gives visual elements an outlined look.

Star Effect

Adds star-like highlights and decorative lighting details.

Where Can You Use These Effects?

  • Lyrics video text and captions
  • Instagram Reels editing
  • YouTube Shorts
  • Cinematic photo edits
  • Music video backgrounds
  • Text animation and typography
  • Glowing title designs
  • Creative shadow effects
  • Photo-based edits

For example, Gradient Shadow and Drop Shadow work well for lyrics and captions. Long Shadow and Edge Lines help create a stylized appearance. Lighting and grading effects can also be combined with effects to create different cinematic looks.

My Editing Tip

If you are a beginner start by learning the basics. Focus on layers, keyframes, masking, blending and text animation. Once you understand these begin experimenting with effects one at a time.

Don't use many effects at once. A simple mix of shadow, lighting, color and movement often gives a more professional result than using many effects together.

Background Data & Network Settings

If you are managing the app's background data or network access, check your phone's app settings. Depending on your Android version and phone brand, options like background data, mobile data and Wi-Fi access may appear in places.

Change these settings when you know what they do. Restricting network access can affect features that need an internet connection.
