Audio Mixing
After you have arranged all video clips and visual layers the next step is to focus on audio. Good audio can make a simple edit feel more polished. Audio controls the mood, rhythm and overall energy of the video. In VN Video Editor you can add background music, sound effects or record a voiceover directly for your project. Choose music that matches the style of your video and put it underneath the footage. If your video has dialogue or narration keep the background music lower so that the speaker is easy to understand. A volume of thirty to thirty‑five percent can be a good starting point. The final level should depend on both the music and the voice recording.
Syncing Music with the Video
After adding your music track listen carefully to the rhythm. Identify important beats or changes in the song. VN allows you to add markers to the timeline, which can help you remember where important beats occur. These markers can then be used as reference points when placing cuts, photos, B‑roll or transitions. Matching changes with the rhythm of the music can make an edit feel more connected and energetic. You do not need to cut on every beat; choosing only the important beats usually produces a result.
Balancing Voice and Background Audio
When a project contains both dialogue and music audio balance becomes very important. First concentrate on the voice or dialogue and make sure it is clear without sounding distorted. Then reduce the background music until it supports the speech of competing with it. VN also provides options for adjusting the volume of clips. If the same audio adjustment needs to be used across main clips you can apply the setting consistently rather than adjusting every clip from the beginning. For B‑roll footage that contains original sound, lower or mute its audio separately to prevent overlapping sounds from becoming distracting.
Colour Correction
After finishing the audio move on to the appearance of the footage. Colour correction helps different clips look more consistent especially when they were recorded under lighting conditions. Select a clip. Open the filter or adjustment controls in VN.
Creating a Consistent Look
When several clips are used in the project consistency is more important than applying a strong filter. Compare the clips. Try to maintain a similar brightness, colour temperature and contrast throughout the sequence. Skin tones should remain natural than becoming overly orange, red or pale. VN allows adjustments to be repeated across clips when you want a consistent visual treatment. Before finalizing the grade compare the version with the original footage to make sure the changes are actually improving the image instead of simply making it more intense.
Speed and Creative Pacing
VN also includes speed controls that can be used to change the pace of your footage. A clip can be slowed down for an cinematic moment or accelerated when you want to move quickly through a section. Speed curves are particularly useful because they allow the footage to gradually move between speeds instead of changing instantly. For example a normal‑speed clip can smoothly slow down during a movement and then return to normal speed. Using speed changes with music beats can create more dynamic edits.
Adjusting the Video Format
If you want to publish the project on different platforms you may need to change the aspect ratio. For content such, as Reels, Shorts and similar platforms a 9:16 format is commonly used. After changing the canvas, reposition or crop your footage so that the main subject stays visible. If the original video does not completely fill the frame you can use a blurred background or a simple colour background to fill the extra space. Check every shot after changing the ratio because subjects can easily move outside the visible area.
Exporting the Final Video
Once the editing, audio, colour, speed and framing are finished watch the project one final time before exporting. Look for gaps, sudden volume changes, incorrect cuts missing text or clips that are not positioned correctly. When everything looks ready choose the export option in VN. Automatic export settings can be convenient when you want VN to follow the source videos properties. For control manual settings allow you to pick options such, as resolution, frame rate and bitrate. Higher settings can improve the output quality. May also create a larger file and need more processing time.
Final Check & Export
Before closing the app let the export process finish completely and verify the saved video by playing it from start to finish. Check the quality and the audio balance especially if the video will be uploaded to social media. A good final review can catch problems that were not noticeable while editing the timeline. With mixing, colour correction, speed control, aspect‑ratio adjustments and proper exporting you can take the basic VN workflow from Part 1 and turn it into a more complete and polished video‑editing process.
