In Alight Motion the Effects → Other section holds effects that may look confusing at first but most of them are designed for specific editing situations. Unlike effects like Blur, Glow, Shake or Color Correction, the effects in the Other category are mainly useful for controlling colors, backgrounds, animation, layers and timing. Once you understand what each effect actually does you can use them for edits, lyric videos, velocity edits, poster designs, transitions and creative animations. In this article we will look at all the effects shown in the section and figure out where and how you can use them in a simple way.

Channel Remap (HSV)

Channel Remap (HSV) is mainly used for changing and controlling the colors of a layer. HSV stands for Hue, Saturation and Value. Of simply applying a color filter to the entire image Channel Remap (HSV) gives you more control over how the colors are changed. Channel Remap (HSV) lets you use Hue to shift one color into another color Saturation to make colors stronger or softer and Value to control the brightness level. For example if you have a themed photo and want it to slowly change into a purple or red tone according to the music beat you can add Channel Remap (HSV) and use keyframes. Channel Remap (HSV) can create color-changing animations. Channel Remap (HSV) is also useful for mood-based edits, cinematic color changes, lyric videos and beat-sync edits where the color changes along with the music.

Channel Remap (RGB)

Channel Remap (RGB) works with the three color channels: Red, Green and Blue. Channel Remap (RGB) is especially useful when you want to create RGB-style visuals, glitch effects or color separation. A common method is to duplicate your image or video layer and manipulate the RGB channels differently. By shifting the color information you can create the popular RGB split effect where red, green and blue edges appear around the subject. Channel Remap (RGB) works well in beat edits glitch transitions intro animations, velocity edits and modern music edits. If you want an image to look more energetic or digital Channel Remap (RGB) can be a useful effect to experiment with.

Copy Background

Copy Background is useful when you need to use the existing background information in another part of your composition. Of manually creating another background Copy Background can help copy or use the background behind a layer. Copy Background is useful when creating poster designs, creative photo compositions, background-based transitions and layered effects. For example you can place a subject or shape over a background. Use Copy Background to create a visual where the surrounding background information continues into the design. Copy Background is more useful in compositions than in basic edits so you may not need it for every project.

Echo Keyframes

Echo Keyframes is mainly connected with animation. When a layer moves, rotates, scales or performs another keyframe animation Echo Keyframes can create repeated copies of that movement. The result can look like a motion trail or multiple frames following the object. Echo Keyframes is useful for movements, beat-sync animations, velocity edits, text animations and energetic transitions. For example if you animate a text layer quickly from left to right Echo Keyframes can create repeated versions of the text behind it giving the movement a dynamic appearance. Echo Keyframes allows you to experiment with the settings to make the echo subtle or more noticeable depending on your edit.

Fill Behind

Fill Behind is useful when you have an image, video or layer that does not completely cover the background area you want to fill. Fill Behind can help create a background behind the layer so that the composition does not look empty. Fill Behind is especially useful for portrait images, social media posts, poster designs and vertical edits. For example if you have a portrait image that does not fit the 9:16 screen you can create a suitable background, behind it instead of leaving empty space. Combined with blur, color adjustment or other effects Fill Behind can help you create a full-screen composition.

Magnify Background

I use Magnify Background to make the background bigger of keeping it at its normal size. Magnify Background lets me change the view especially in portrait edits where the main subject stays sharp while the background grows and catches more eye. I can also pair Magnify Background with blur, masking or zoom animations to add film‑style transitions. For example I keep a photo in the middle. Apply Magnify Background so the surrounding area feels closer or deeper.

Parenting Helper

I turn to Parenting Helper when many layers must move together. Parenting means linking one layers motion or change to another layer. Parenting Helper simplifies that linking in the composition. I find Parenting Helper handy when I have objects, character animations, text, shapes or moving graphics. For instance if I have a text layer, an icon and a background element that all need to follow the movement I use Parenting Helper to save time instead of keyframing each layer by hand.

Time Quantization

Time Quantization helps me manage timing in animation. Time Quantization lets me set keyframes so that movements happen at set intervals. I use Time Quantization when I want animations to sync with a beat or follow a pattern. In music edits Time Quantization ensures that movements happen at intervals. I also use Time Quantization for repeated animations that need timing. Because Time Quantization is a tool I experiment to see how it reshapes my animation.

Putting the Other Category Together

Overall the Other category, in Alight Motion is not a collection of effects. Each effect has a purpose. Channel Remap (HSV) and Channel Remap (RGB) mainly help with color changes. Copy Background and Fill Behind help with background‑based compositions. Echo Keyframes creates motion trails and repeated animation. Magnify Background enlarges the background. Parenting Helper manages layer relationships. Time Quantization controls animation timing. I do not need to use all of these effects in every edit. I choose each effect when the project really needs it.

Once I start combining these effects with keyframes, masking, blending and other Alight Motion tools I can craft more advanced edits without relying only on ready‑made presets.
