Eyes and Hands Beat Animation Edit in Alight Motion

I saw this BGM in an Instagram reel and really liked it, so I decided to make an edit with it. I added the song, the photos, and the lyrics first, but it looked too simple. So I tried many different styles, and it took me a long time. After a lot of trying, this eyes and hands style felt right, so I made it. In this guide, I'll explain how it works in simple words.

What you need

You need the Alight Motion app, a few photos, and PNG cutouts for the hands and the sunflower. A beat track helps a lot, because the whole edit moves with the beat. Use music you have the right to use. I also made a full Alight Motion course video earlier, so check it if you want to learn the basics first.

Why I used Alight Motion

CapCut can do beat animation too, but I find Alight Motion better for it. You get full control over each layer, and you can reuse the same project again and again. That is why I made this edit in Alight Motion.

How the edit is built

The edit has three main parts: the photos, the PNG elements, and the movement. The photos are the base. On top of them, I placed the hands and the sunflower as PNG layers. Then I added the beat animation to each layer, so everything moves at the right time.

I did not use the camera layer for the whole edit. Instead, I used a null layer to control the movement and the 3D feeling. A null layer is an invisible layer, and you can connect other layers to it. When you move the null layer, all the connected layers move together. This made my animation much easier to control.

I used null layers and a lot of movements in this edit, so it took much more time than a normal edit. At the start, the sunflower stays in one place. Near the end, I made it move with the beat of the BGM, and it looked much better.

The movement takes time

The edit is easy to understand, but it takes a lot of time. Each hand needs its own movement. For every beat, I had to add rotation, position, and zoom animation. Most of my work was adding keyframes and checking the timing again and again. If you are patient, you will get a smooth result.

My tip is to finish one section first and test it. If the movement looks good, copy the same style to the next beat.

The eye and hand movements in this edit are inspired by Bharatanatyam eye and hand exercises. Because of that, the ending of the video looked really beautiful.

Colour or black and white

You can make this edit in colour or in black and white. For black and white, select the photo layer, go to Color and Light, and reduce the saturation. To keep it in colour, leave the saturation as it is. I tried both, and each one gives a different mood. The black and white version looked calm and stylish. The colour version looked bright and fun. Choose the one you like.

How to change the photos

This is the easiest part. Select the photo layer, go to Color and Fill, and replace it with your own photo. The movement stays the same, so you don't have to animate again. The eyes photo works the same way. Replace it with a close-up of any eyes and the animation will fit.

One thing I learned: pick photos that suit the style. A clear, well-lit photo with the face in the middle gives the best result. Photos with a messy background don't look as clean.

Common problems

If the movement looks off after changing a photo, check the position and zoom of the new photo first. Most of the time, the photo is just too big or too small. If the project does not open properly, check the help video I added with this post. Also, add all your photos and music before you start editing. It saves a lot of time later.

Final thoughts

I made this edit because I want you to try it too. I explained the steps in simple words, and I added the project file link below, so you can open it and try it yourself. Change the photos and make it your own. If you have any questions, leave a comment and I'll help.
